New Delhi: Calling the Digital India initiative a"people`s movement", Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said ithas empowered people, significantly reduced corruption and improved publicservice delivery to benefit the poor.

"On this day four years ago, Digital India waslaunched, to leverage the power of technology and make technology moreaccessible. Digital India has empowered people, significantly reducedcorruption and improved public service delivery to benefit the poor," Modisaid in a series of tweets. He said the initiative was a "people`smovement", powered by the citizens` strength and their efforts to learn aswell as innovate.

"I salute all those assiduously working to strengthenDigital India and wish them the very best for their future efforts," headded.

Digital India movement was launched by PM Narendra Modi-ledgovernment four years ago on July 1.
